The shortly available compression technology by Numeri, will outperform MPEG4 Part-10 (H.264) by a factor of at least 5. This will enable streaming at 200 kbps @ 25 fps for a high quality full-D1 video channel, with growth potential to double this performance. Numeri can already demonstrate a new video compression algorithm that outperforms the latest MPEG4 technology by a factor better than 2:1. A full D1 (704x576) video stream that is compressed into a 3-4 Mbps using MPEG-2 encoder or into over 1 Mbps using MPEG-4 can be compressed into a 0.4-0.5 Mbps stream, using the Numeri algorithm, while maintaining the same visual quality. Using this algorithm, HDTV quality video (1920x1080I) can be compressed into less than 2.5 Mbps. The present technological status is only an interim step towards an optimized codec that will significantly improve upon the existing one. In addition to high compression ratio and high video quality, the company's new algorithm offers further significant advantages for video streaming and storage applications including: being able to support a broad range of video resolutions, built-in scalability, parallel processing and dynamic memory consumption, significant saving in processing, memory and power resources, configurable latency and symmetrical encoding:decoding complexity. These unique advantages of Numeri's new video compression technology make it an ideal and even enabling technology in huge evolving markets such as streaming HD video over limited bandwidth IP networks (wired or wireless) as well as for streaming of low resolution video over 3G / Cellular networks. Low bit-rate and built -in scalability can compensate for dynamic, limited and uncertain communication bandwidth and can significantly improve the QoS. The high compression ratio also makes it ideal for video recordings and surveillance applications for the HLS market, where it can dramatically save expensive storage space.
