OPTIMUS Network-Based Wireless Optimizer Executive Summary 1 General Optimus Ltd. Is a network technologies company, developing an innovative optimization system for wireless networks. The system acts as an automatic networks administrator and as a result sharply decreases networks' installation and maintenance costs. In addition, the company's product dramatically improves the performance and throughput of wireless networks by learning and auto-adapting to changes in topology and communication features. The company's goal is to become a leading provider of optimization tools for enterprise and public wireless networks. 2 The Need Computer networking market is a huge market, and inside it, the wireless networking market is the fastest growing market in the telecommunication industry. Most of the communication devices depend on their parameter calibration in order to achieve their optimal performance. This calibration process must be performed by an expert technician since it is heavily influenced by the structure and topology of the network. As a result, most companies either pay costly for the maintenance of their wireless networks, or use a network which operates in far sub-optimal throughput. 3 The Product The product integrates into the wireless network and performs an on-line recalibration process, which allows the network to automatically adapt to changes in the network. In addition, the product continuously learns the topology of the network as well as its various communication features. As a result, the need for expensive network maintenance is greatly reduced, as the product can replace a team of network technicians, by performing most of the routine calibration and configuration tasks automatically. The product is based on a unique and innovative genetic engine, which enables the performance of an on-line optimal calibration of various parameters of the communication devices. 4 The Team The company is led by Yaniv Altshuler and Eran Segal. Yaniv is a PhD student at the computer science department at the Technion. Yaniv's research field is "distributed intelligence in dynamic environments" ("swarm intelligence"). Yaniv is an alumnus of the Chais Excellence program of the Technion. In his army service, Yaniv had served 3.5 years in the intelligence corps (in unit 8200). Yaniv has more than 5 years of experience in the industry, among which, 3 years as a researcher in RAFAEL. Eran had serves 5.5 years in the intelligence corps (in unit 8200). In the last 2 years of his service, Eran served as a head of a department. Eran has a wide knowledge and expertise of networks and communication technologies.
